According to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning, the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Hartsook Road in Huntington Township just prior to 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The name of the one female victim has not been released, and, according to Browning, one unidentified male suspect was later taken into custody by a sheriff’s office official following a traffic stop in Bidwell. The suspect had reportedly left the scene of the incident.
Officials with the Sheriff’s Office are currently processing the scene and agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation will be assisting with the investigation.
According to Browning, the shooting occurred as a result of a domestic violence situation.
